Cannot View Imbedded Video in Browser

I'm new to linux, after getting through the the install of Mandriva 2007, everything seems to be working fine, except i cannot view video in any of my browsers. I'm assuming there must be some sort of plugin or codec i'm missing. could someone point me in the right direction to get this problem resolved.

Thanks
Barry

Easier said than done. Sure, all you have to do is install the flashplayer.xpt and libflashplayer.so files in the plugins directory that your browser refers to when looking for plugins. In my case I installed Firefox 1.5 to /home/dad/programs/firefox/ and run it from that directory. I installed flash 7 and recently flash 9 into the plugins directory there.but when I go back to the webpage that told me I needed it still says I need it. Other sites that require it give me sound but no video same as what ver. 7 did. I got version 7 to work both sound and video for a while by changing the owner and mode of the plugins, But it quit working shortly later--still doesn't work for foxnews video and others.
