Seems to have nothing to do with fonts. The '(EE)' lines complain about fbdev and xkb keymap. You may need to remake your xorg.conf. You seem to be running XFree86 not xorg. What distro is this?

Cheers,

First, thanks for the unbelivable response time.
The distro is slackware.
Those (EE) lines are not the one that crashes X, its the fatal error: could not load default font "cursor".

:-) Got a few minutes to spare... waiting for a number crunching job to finish.

Oops, my bad. Notice that it is not a text font, but a cursor font. I think you need to have a look in XFree86.conf (sorry can't remember the exact name for xfree86) and see if there is anything suspicious.

Perhaps some of the slackers lurking here can be of more help?

Cheers,

Isn't google great. Seems someone posted the exact same question here 4 years ago.

http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...e-10.2-398806/

Reinstalling the x11-fonts package was the suggested solution, but the OP never reported back.

I guess i should have mentioned that i have already googled and already reinstalled the font package.

Hey! i fixed that error only for it to crash on another error.
The solution was to add a line to /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc/fonts.alias that says
cursor *
but now theres a new error and i will attach a log
edit:
the log did not catch the error
Warning: locale not supported by Xlib, locale set to C

The same fbdev and xkb errors persist. Perhaps you have old versions installed that are incompatible with the rest of X?
This is really out of my comfort zone... I use distros that resolve these sort of dependency issues for me. I think I probably can't be of much help here.

Good luck!

X was installed as 1 package and all dependencies are current.
BTW I can breafly see a gray screen with a black X in the center.
