I'll take that english may not be your first language, but this sounds to me like the wrong way to ask others help for something, as if the people on this forum is here only to answer you.
Please pay attention to how you write down your help requests
Regarding your first issue, have your tried running firefox as normal user inside a shell? What messages do you see? Please report them inside code tags.
To update firefox to the latest version I guess you should do it via apt, but nothing prevents you from extracting the tarball you downloaded inside a directory of your choice (even under your home folder) and run it from there.

@ kedar - open a terminal and type in 'firefox' as a normal user. If you get any error messages post them here.

also please add
What version of Ubuntu is this ?
and what version of firefox is installed run firefox and under "help" is "about firefox"

also any of the NEW versions of FF will auto update
( but NOT the older versions)

as to MANUALLY installing a "new" version

i would NOT do that unless you HAVE a lot of experience in doing things like that
you will NEED to manually change a LOT of files and locations in files
( a LOT of work )

i would RECOMMEND using your Package manager to install the CURRENT version of Firefox for YOUR version of Ubuntu
