Cannot send mail with postfix

I'm trying to send through the Mac terminal:

date | mail -s testing

In mail.log I get the following error:

"Jul 19 10:19:17 oris-imac.home postfix/error[707]: 165009630728: to=<>, relay=none, delay=31, delays=0.61/31/0/0, dsn=4.4.3, status=deferred (delivery temporarily suspended: Host or domain name not found. Name service error for type=MX: Host not found, try again)
Jul 19 10:19:46 oris-imac.home postfix/master[682]: master exit time has arrived"

I looked for a solution online but couldn't find any one that was useful for me, but I guess it's a DNS issue.

Anyone know what can I do to solve this?

Maybe you have but did you ping ? Did you receive a reply?
You could also run the below and post the results?

1. in cmd line (i use windows at work) type nslookup then press enter
2. type: set q=mx then press enter
3. type then press enter and check if you see the same as below?

Server: my local dc
Address: xxx.yyy.zzz.ttt

Non-authoritative answer: MX preference = 40, mail exchanger =
.com MX preference = 10, mail exchanger =
.com MX preference = 20, mail exchanger =
.com MX preference = 30, mail exchanger =
.com MX preference = 5, mail exchanger = internet address =

I can ping without problem.

But when nslookup gives me a connection timed out error:

> set q=mx
;; connection timed out; no servers could be reached

Any idea what can I do to fix this?
