Cannot send email messages

Hello everyone,

This is my first visit to the site and I am only moderately computer literate so please excuse my limited competency.

My problem is that I am unable to send an email message. I can receive and I can transmit only if there is something in the "subject" line but not when there is even one word in the message area.
The error message advises that the server responded but the transaction failed. "Cannot send message due to possible abuse. Please visit postmaster .yahoo.com/abuse."
I tried that without success. Can anyone please suggest a solution.
I can send and receive on a remotely connected lap-top but not from the desk-top PC.

Regards,

Bob.

Please provided more info:

When you say, "remotely connected laptop," do mean a laptop connected to a different local network, say at a local coffee shop or at your work? (If the answer to this is yes, it likely means your IP address might be in an RBL. You'll need to work with your ISP to clear that up.)

What mail clients have you tested on the laptop and desktop?

If you have webmail interface for your mail account, does it work on the laptop? On the desktop?

Does the mail get sent and bounced back from the remote smtp server or does it never get sent in the first place?

Do the mail headers of the returned mail contain any bounce messages? (Different email clients have different methods for viewing the headers.)

Edit: Don't expect bounce messages in the headers to be very helpful. Sometimes, all they provide is hints about the next step in the hunt.

Thanks for your prompt response Frank. Fortunately, I have managed to correct the problem via local advice. A security setting had (mysteriously) changed and was causing the problem.

I had tried sending from the desktop to several different addresses without success while all messages were going from the lap-top which is connected via our LAN at home.

Thanks again for your interest.

Regards,

Bob.

Glad you are running. Really really glad it wasn't an RBL problem and you could fix it locally.

Just for curiosity, what security setting?

Smile Cannot send email messages

So simple! The HTML box was checked(Ticked, as we say here) I simply un-checked the box and everything was running again.

Regards,

Bob.
