Cannot see some symbols in file/directory-name in RH 9.0

Hi everyone!

I'm a beginner in Linux and I use RH 9.0. I've set up a sambaserver to backup all my important files. I'm swedish. I've run into a problem seeing swedish symbols like å, ä and ö, in linux, in my files that I've sent from my PC that runs Win XP SP2. The dirs and files that have a swedish symbol in it are always locked and it has been added in the file/dir name that it's an unvalid unicode, for example:

the dir "tråd" is sent to the server.
when I open the dir it was sent to in linux I see a lock on the dir and it's named "trd (ogiltig unicode)", the symbol isn't there anymore. If I go to the same dir, but in windows, I can see the same dir like nothing happend but why? Have tried to find a solution but I can't.

I would be very happy if somebody knew why. =)

Thank you in advance. =) /No-0n3
