Cannot Run Ubuntu 9.10 off CD

I have a perplexing problem. When I try to run Ubuntu off a cd, all I get is page after page of errors. It is already running perfectly off my hard drive. I tried the cd, and it works on a different computer.
It also showed no errors.
Any ideas will be appreciated.

CD/DVD drives are notorious dust magnets and the read lens of the laser could be obsured as a result. You could try shooting some compressed air in through the drive tray opening or running a laser lens cleaning disk (about $10.00 at Radio shack et al).

Thanks for your informative reply. The burn was verified with the software. The drive is relatively new and barely used. I will pickup a cleaning kit. Are there any other possible causes?

Well what are the errors? They're usually pretty handy. I appreciate they may be going too quick to note down, but how about the general gist?

Update

I burned a CD from a different batch. I was able to go online with this one. While it was loading I saw a couple of errors however. Something to the effect of I/O buffering errors.
My ultimate goal is to make a bootle flash drive then install it into a laptop that has no optical drive.
