Cannot reuse CD-RW after first burn

I installed an external USB Mad Dog 52x24x52 CD-Rw in Red Hat 8.0 and have used both the cdrecord -v -eject speed=4 dev=0,0,0 filename.iso command to brun a backup CD. I have also successfully used the blank=fast and blank=all options successfully. HOWEVER - when I try to rewrite on the 4x RW CD from both the command line and X-CD-Roast, Iget and OPC error, which reads at the end:

Sense flags: Blk 0 (not valid)
cmd finished after 0.043s timeout 60s
cdrecord:Resource temporarily unavailable. OPC failed
cdrecord fifo had 64 puts and 0 gets
cdrecord:fifo was 0 times empty and 0 times full, min fill was 100%

Do I have a hardware issue or a media incompatability? Why will it not reuse a rewriteable?

Go to www.xcdroast.org and upgrade to alpha13 and get the latest cdrtools ver.2.0.1.See if that helps.

Same Problem

I have the same problem, although i expect it's related to the Ultra Speed CDRW disks i am using. I have the Mad Dog Dominator 52x24x52. I'm trying to burn the new Mandrake 9.2 isos, so hopefully the newest software will correct this issue.

On another note, i could not find Mandrake rpms for cdrtools, but instead found cdrecord rpms instead. I'm not sure what version i'm currently running, but i should have whatever is included in the Mandrake 9.2 distro shortly, i will see if it works then.

I wonder what CDRWs you are using? Maybe this is a lack of support for the Mad Dog burners, or a lack of support for Ultra Speed RW media.
