Cannot retrieve repository metadata (repomd.xml)

I am using fedora 8 in my system.
arch=x86_64

once i done "yum clean all"
after that i am getting this error.

http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pu...ta/repomd.xml: [Errno 14] HTTP Error 404: Not Found
Trying other mirror.
Error: Cannot retrieve repository metadata (repomd.xml) for repository: fedora. Please verify its path and try again

Now my system is not showing the updates availabe.
it giving error that "please check the network connection"

But i am using internet from the same system.

how can i solve these?
now i can't install any packages.

the add or remove software also throwing the same error even fedora 8 dvd is there in my dvd drive.

thanks in advance

Have you checked your network connection? The simplest explanation is that the machine in question is not connected to the Internet, or that certain ports are blocked.

Also, Fedora 8 is no longer supported -- you really need to consider upgrading.
