Cannot remove item from KDE Menu (aka start button)

I recently downloaded the newest kaffeine build (0.4.3b) and during the make, it installed a shortcut on the KDE menu. I do not want it there so I right clicked my button (Suse 9.1 .. so it is a lizard) and went to menu editor and clicked on kaffiene and clicked delete. Well, there is a problem now ...

The icon is still there, no matter how many times I hit delete, it wont go away, but the button on the menu doesnt do anything when it is clicked (doesnt launch kaffiene like it should) ... so it basically removed the buttons functionality, but didnt remove the button.

Is there any way I could open a text editor or something and change the kde config file or something like that ... this is very annoying to me.

you'll have to go into the directory where KDE is installed
and delete the icon yourself.............

If the config tool isn't working, which is kinda odd. KDE puts the menu items in the directories called applnk.

There should be one under your home directory $HOME/.kde/share/applnk/ and one under your global config directory which IIRC is /opt/kde under suse. You can check it by typing "kde-config --prefix" at the shell. Then it would be under /opt/kde/share/applnk. Then try deleting the .desktop files manually.

If suse customizes the menu like some distros there might be alternate applnk directories, something like applnk-foo, check those out if you have 'em.
