Unhappy Cannot play MP3s

I can't play any MP3s on Linux. I'm just using the built-in media players. They don't work. Any suggestions?

Since Red Hat ships without any mp3 codecs, you have to install them yourself. Have you done that? If not, have a look around in Red Hat forums to find out where to get them from. I don't use RH myself so I can't help you with that.

i think red hat disabled mp3 support because of licensing concerns. you'll probably have to find workarounds or plugins for your media apps.

Re: Cannot play MP3s

What happens when you try to play MP3's with the built-in media players, and what are the built-in media players?

edit -> someone else knew RH doesn't have the codecs

because of legal issues Linux didn't include mp3 support...

try to check check this site

http://rpmfind.net/linux/rpm2html/se...query=xmms-mp3

download the xmms file and "rpm -i" the said file...

this will solve your problem...

Red Hat didn't include MP3 support Other linux distro's do. "Linux" is only the kernel that all these packaged distro's run on

Thank you for the info. It installed. Now what? I tried to use the media players, no luck.

EDIT: The Audio Player worked.
