Cannot open text editor with double click in ftp Nautilus

I am working on some ftp in which there are some php files, but whenever I double click on files it gets opened in browser, while local php files opens in text editor. How to open php in ftp with text editor.

If you are using FTP then you should first transfer the files over to your local system to open them.

The reason it is using a browser is because you are in FTP and therefore viewing these files remotely. Since you do not have them local, the FTP session is realizing that you need to transfer them over when you click on them versus open them.

FTP is not a portal to allow you to run commands and modify files remotely. That would be something like ssh or rlogin.

FTP is only for transferring files.

That mean I should use ssh instead of ftp for editing
