Would this work?

iwconfig eth1 mode ad-hoc
iwconfig eth1 essid <essid goes here>
iwconfig eth1 channel <channel>
ifconfig eth1 10.0.0.1 up

note: either it is ad-hoc or Ad-Hoc, which ever one.
