Cannot Login in to Kubuntu
 

I had Ubuntu and KUbuntu both as well as Windows (which I had only to use when necessary) Suddenly, about 6 months ago I could not get into Kubuntu. I tried different solutions.(Don't remember what all I tried) and then Installed Kubuntu alongside Windows. Now when I go to windows I get a choice between Windows and Kubuntu. BUT if I choose Kubuntu it goes to the start up screen with the five dots and stalls. Can I uninstall the Kubuntu and try to install it by itself (as it was originally) I have had a friend that is very familiar with Linux help me in the past but now he says it has something to do with a the motherboard not having the right card. I am confused on this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The ubuntu splash seems to take up a lot of memory try running something like debian.
What are your hardware specs?

You don't uninstall operating systems. If you want to have Kubuntu as the only operating system on your hard disk, then yes, you can do that. When you install it, you'll just have to remove all the partitions for the other operating systems and make those for Kubuntu as large as you want them.

Do you mean my Hard drives? I have a 160 Gig and a 80 Gig

I would like to have Ubuntu, Kubuntu, and my Windows XP. I just use the Windows for things like Google Earth (which I use in my striping business) that I cannot get to work properly in Linux.
Please tell me what hardware to list and how to list it and I will do it.

Processor, memory and graphics card are probably a good start.

I have 1.9 Gig of memory.

My motherboard book lists Graphic/Integrated in UniChrome Pro Chipset---Max Shared Video Memory is 64 MB

Your hardware is certainly adequate for running Kubuntu or Ubuntu. The five dots and stalls problem is probably related to the video driver; perhaps adding nomodeset to the kernel line and using the vesa driver. I always try to boot to the cli and start the gui manually. It's easy with Fedora, but Ubuntu always makes me work to do it (and I don't do fresh installs of Ubuntu often enough to remember how to do it).

Why separate installs of Ubuntu and Kubuntu? You can install both the GNOME and KDE desktops and choose your DE from the gdm or kdm login screen.
