cannot install software

I installed Bunsen Labs. Then I wanted to install gedit.... but that is not possible.

What repositories do I have to add, that will give me access to the software I need?

Hi and Welcome to LQ!
There are over 600 different Linux distributions. No one will be able to help you if you don't reveal which distro (and which version/release) you are using.

Bunsen Labs is a Debian derivative: https://www.bunsenlabs.org/.

This page deals with repositories: https://pkg.bunsenlabs.org/.

With gksudo geany, I created the file: /etc/apt/sources.list.d/bunsen-jessie-backports.list
with this content:
Quote:
deb http://pkg.bunsenlabs.org/debian jessie-backports main
# Uncomment to include source packages
#deb-src http://pkg.bunsenlabs.org/debian jessie-backports main
Then I ran the command: sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade in the terminal.

Then I ran the command: sudo apt-get install gedit. And the result was: Unable to locate package.

I even restarted the computer. But that didn't work either.

What am I doing wrong here?

Bunsen Labs is the distribution. It is the continuation of CrunchBang.

I thought it would have been installed by default but have you tried:
