Cannot install Package 'traceroute' on Ubuntu

Trying to install traceroute on Ubuntu 14.04.2. I get:
apt-get install traceroute
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Package traceroute is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source

E: Package 'traceroute' has no installation candidate

It's there in 14.10 -- I know because I just installed it. It may be a problem with the repositories -- sometimes things do "go missing" for a short while.

Sorry, I was trying to suggest that you look into the possibility that it's temporarily unavailable and will return. However, assuming you mean you're running 14.04 LTS you may need to run an apt-get update or check your repositories as it looks like it's there according to the Ubuntu Package search site (a good one to explore and bookmark, by the way):
http://packages.ubuntu.com/search?ke...se&section=all

Edit: I do suggest that you only use the site to search and that you only install from repositories but it can let you know when you may have a problem with your repositories or when an application is available for one release but not another.
