Cannot install GNU Readline 6.1 [Ubuntu Server]

I am trying to install the GNU Readline Library for microdc2. In order to install it I:

1) run configure
2) run make
3) run sudo make install

When I enter sudo make install at the end of many lines of output, I get this:

Code:
/bin/sh ../support/mkdirs /usr/local/lib
/bin/sh ../support/shlib-install -O linux-gnu -V unknown -d /usr/local/lib -b /usr/local/bin -i "/usr/bin/install -c -m 644" libhistory.so.6.1
/bin/sh ../support/shlib-install -O linux-gnu -V unknown -d /usr/local/lib -b /usr/local/bin -i "/usr/bin/install -c -m 644" libreadline.so.6.1
install: you may need to run ldconfig
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/dan/readline-6.1/shlib'
(The bold is added)

microdc2 doesn't read it as installed. I tried to follow this but it doesn't work: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...so-6-a-821507/

Please help. Thank you very much

I think if you compiled already you have to restart and issue command as in post #6 in the site you looked at.

Quote:
readline is installed under /usr/local.
1.You can add /usr/local/lib in /etc/ld.so.conf and run ldconfig.
2.Before trying to compile the other application you can use:
export

Quote:
3.LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/local/lib:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH
this actually may be ldconfig
Quote:
4.A simple restart and the command made everything work! Thank you very much for your help!
