Cannot Install ethernet card

I have a Belkin Gigabit ethernet card 10/100/1000 and it claims to be compatible with Linux, however when I go into the console and try to install the driver it tells me that it cannot find the linux kernel in /usr/src/ I am running mandrake and I am not sure of how to proceed after this point. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What driver are you trying to load? As far as I know, the drivers are usually in /lib/modules/(kernel version)

Looking at the gigabit drivers in make menuconfig on my kernel, it looks like sk98lin MIGHT be the module you want (it seems to support Belkin's generic gigabit card). Try "modprobe sk98lin" and see what that results in!

Thanks, the name was not clearly specified in the module but the driver was provided with Mandrake, just as you said it was sk98lin
