Cannot enter Interactive boot in mandrake 10.1

I have tried installing Mandrake 10.1 on my new Chembook 2060 Pentium M laptop for the past two days. I can install it only if I use the noacip and nolacip switches. Once installed, it hangs on "Checking for new hardware" I cannot get to any shell or graphic desktop to change the settings for kudzu. Any ideas? I tried using Knoppix to examine the root system but I don't know what files I can edit to change the boot behavior. I believe it's the wireless card causing the problem. Is there a way I can disable it in the bootup. Booting linux failsafe also didn't work.

Thanks,

Devan

In Mandrake you can enter i while it is booting for an interactive startup. Watch the display for the prompt, it comes early on. It will allow you to start or disregard each process. If you think something being loaded is causing you probs, you can isolate which one.

Then take it out of the rc.d

I assume that you can start the boot process with feedback from the display until it gets to the problem.

Post back if that allows you to get around the problem and you need more help.

Thanks for the help.

Unfortunately, since my post a few weeks ago, I've gained a few more grey hairs.

I couldn't get Mandrake working.

I went through the Gentoo installation (6 times) and got something to load occasionally, and I finally have gotten Fedora Core 3 running now.

I just have to get the rest of my hardware working on my laptop.

I tell you, this learning curve is not very steep.
