Have you tried disabling SELinux? If not then edit your /etc/selinux/config file to include the line "SELINUX=disabled". You might have to comment out the line "SELINUX=permissive" or "SELINUX=enforcing". Then reboot. Hope this helps.

The only other thing that occurs to me is you might be using the wrong password for the VNC server.

Hello,

Running Ubuntu, I have installed vnc4server.
When I start vncserver, I have the following error messages in ~/.vnc/server:1.log :

-------------------------------------
Couldn't open RGB_DB '/etc/X11/rgb'

Xvnc Free Edition 4.1.1
Copyright (C) 2002-2005 RealVNC Ltd.
See http://www.realvnc.com for information on VNC.

exec: 5: /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc: Permission denied
FreeFontPath: FPE "/usr/share/fonts/X11/misc/" refcount is 2, should be 1; fixing.

When I connect to the server using vncviewer, I have a unusable grey desktop.
-------------------------------------
NOTES:
- there is no '/etc/X11/xserver/' folder
- there is no 'SecurityPolicy' anywhere in the system
- the full path to '/etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc' is readable by anybody

The vncserver is thus not usable.
TIA for your help.
