Cannot boot up on Linux, have to boot onto Linux-nonfb after installing nvidia driver

I installed my nvidia drivers without any errors, I edited the files no prob, saved em and all that, but when Mandrake boots up, it asks if u wanna boot failsafe, Linux, Linux-nonfb and floppy, when I choose the normal Linux, when it makes an attempt to go to KDE and start up, the screen goes black, and aa bunch of blue lines appear at the bottom of my screen..

Anyone know what the problem might be?

The frame buffer has different screen sizes and color depths, check your bootloader config file to see which one it has. Maybe try another setting.

I dont know how to check my boot loader config file, or change any settings. I am a newbie to Linux.

Can you explain what you mean by 'the frame has a different screen sizes and color depths"?

I would like to learn what all this stuff means.

Thank you
~Kyle :).

Ask

prompt for desired video characteristics to use. You can use this to determine the selections actually available for your video card.

i too am having this problem, its the video card and ill swear it up and down, i put in my voodoo4 4500 last night just to see if it is the card, and slackware10 and mandrake9 (just like last time) ran kde with no problem

i installed the nvidia drivers and edited xf86config just liek it said....when i ran startx the end of the log file tells me there is somehting wrong with the modules...i believe its /usr/src/lib/modules or somethign to that nature

its quit irritating
