I cannot boot into my ubuntu live usb from my razer blade (2016) I get the error message:
Code:
unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(0,0)
which I think is a driver problem with the kernel. however I don't really know and I have no idea how to fix it. I am trying with ubuntu 15 at the moment, but I have tried with 16 and 14 and always get the same error. also I really don't care what distro it is as long as I can boot from a live usb. thanks!
I select they drive by holding f12 at boot to get a drive list.
It looks like Asus has changed the firmware key map. I have owned several Asus MBs, and they always used F8 to select the boot medium. So is F8 inactive?
Booting an external medium from a UEFI computer is different. They usually have two boot modes, standard and legacy. If you provide more information on how you created the live usb, maybe it will ring a bell with some of the posters here.
f8 also works, I just use f12 because it is also how you select your boot device. I have found where the legacy options are and I turned them off. then I tried with gentoo. it worked, so I guess that is fixed. ubuntu still does not work, but that is OK.
