cannot access files on other hd

I recently bought another computer with windows xp sp3 and i already have a computer dual booting winxp sp3/PCLOS2009. I took the hard drive out of my old comp and put it in as slave to the new one. i can open it from "my computer" i can get in the windows folder and open anything i want in there but when i try to get in "my Documents " on the old Hard drive it says G:\Documents and settings\user name\mydocuments is not accessable
Access is denied
can any one help me

Sorry I can't work out if you are trying to access this from Windows or Linux. It should just be a permissions issue. Have you tried changing any permissions?

Try reading that folder from within windows with admin privileges.

If that doesn't work, try mounting it in Linux through a live cd, knoppix, for example, and manually look at its contents. If it is garbled, then it means that it may be encrypted, which is one of the options XP and above give users.

i used handy recovery to get my stuff back .
