can xwininfo or other command get geometry region of an area instead of the entire window

Hi

Xwininfo is good at getting the geometry of the root window display and individual windows.

I want to get the geometry info on a select region area of the browser and not the entire window. For example with a GUI screen capturing program, you would use the area tool and drag a red border around the area you want to capture.

I've check the man page for xwininfo and it doesn't seem to have the option to do what I want.

Do you know a linux command line program that will give me that info.

I will then use the geometry info for my ffmpeg screencapturing videos.

Thanks

solved by xwininfo and using a second terminal. An awesome trick that did what I wanted.
