Can we mount shares on already mounted filesystem, e.g. /tmp?

I just want to know if it is possible to mount a share to /tmp on RHEL 6.6?

For example to mount <device hosting share>:/vol/share_name as /tmp
which is already mounted as follows:

Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on
1998672 512380 1381436 28% /tmp

Thank you.

So when you look in /tmp which device contents do you hope to see?

That will likely cause issues, because there might be processes running that are using files there.

Would it be an acceptable alternative to make a directory in /tmp to use as the mountpoint, like /tmp/mnt?
