can removable disk drive be auto mounted ?


can removable disk like usb drive be auto mounted when ever it is plugged in to the system? can that be done by mortal users rather that super user? I use redhat version of linux.
if there is way to auto mount the removable disk please let me know it.

All modern Linux distributions should support automatic mounting of removable devices for normal users through HAL/UDEV paired with a capable desktop environment.

Unless you mean on the console. Without the DE listening for HAL events, nothing is in place to mount the device. To that end, there are HAL daemons that run separate from the DE (such as ivman), which might be what you are looking for.

well fedora always HAS autmounted mine since i've used it (turn on your HAL and udev in "ntsysv")
