Can only start web browser as root

I cannot access web by clicking on the web icon, unless I'm root.

When I am in my account I can go into the shell, become root and issue htmlview %u this will give me access.

I have compared paths and pointers between my account and root everything is the same.

The only change is my roomate moved out and I am hooked directly to the modem rather than thru the router.

Any suggestions?

thanks

What happens if you just run "htmlview"?

You could always just run the command to open your preferred browser... "firefox" or whichever.

I get the same results with htmlview.

I can still only access the web as root though. Either GUI or CUI
