Can not Print - Slackware12.2 - Brother HL2040 - Downloaded lpr, cupswrapper rpm->tgz
 

Hello,
I downloaded lpr and cupswrapper rpm(s). I rpm2tgz for each.
I installpkg for each file.
Output was Package Description.

I went to http://localhost:631/printers and tried to register.
I also tried using the kde link from my menu list.
When I get to the Main/driver section, my particular model (HL-2040) is still not listed.
Instead, HL-2060 is listed as the recommended. This had not previously worked in Slackware12.2, although that driver does work well with my printer in Fedora Core 5.
When I setup, and then try to print, the printer wakes up but does not do anything else and then idles.
The print job status shows completed.

30sec. after turning on and plugging in the printer:

/usr/share/ppd/Brother does not already exist and I am wondering why not?
Where should I download the ppd file to?

I followed the link and directions. I then went to CUPS registered and test printed. Test print worked.
