Can not mount my floppy drive.

I'm having another problem with Linux Mandrake 8.1 and my laptop. I can't mount my floppy. It says "mount: /dev/fd0: unknown device" I have tried all the different variations, including "-t msdos". It will not recognize my floppy drive at all (an internal 3 1/2" )

Thanks for your help

Check in the ' /dev ' directory to see if ' fd0 ' is there.

Ok, I formatted the drive, so I don't have Linux on it right now. However, if that device is not in the dir, how would I place it there?

Well, it should be there wether it's configure or not, are you sure you didn't delete it by mistake? A pretty default-y install of MD80 provides me with...

[chris@trevor chris]$ ls /dev/fd0*
/dev/fd0 /dev/fd0d360 /dev/fd0h410 /dev/fd0u1660 /dev/fd0u2880 /dev/fd0u820
/dev/fd0CompaQ /dev/fd0h1200 /dev/fd0h420 /dev/fd0u1680 /dev/fd0u3200 /dev/fd0u830
/dev/fd0D360 /dev/fd0h1440 /dev/fd0h720 /dev/fd0u1722 /dev/fd0u3520
/dev/fd0D720 /dev/fd0h1476 /dev/fd0h880 /dev/fd0u1743 /dev/fd0u360
/dev/fd0H1440 /dev/fd0h1494 /dev/fd0u1040 /dev/fd0u1760 /dev/fd0u3840
/dev/fd0H360 /dev/fd0h1660 /dev/fd0u1120 /dev/fd0u1840 /dev/fd0u720
/dev/fd0H720 /dev/fd0h360 /dev/fd0u1440 /dev/fd0u1920 /dev/fd0u800

I found that my floppy drive was actually fd0H1440, not the standard fd), mainly cos i am using a rubbish old drive...

Not quite the same, but...

Also, does anyone know why I can only access my Zip250 drive (internal ATAPI, master on 3rd controller) /dev/hde4? Surely it should be /dev/hde1 (or even just /dev/hde like my DVD (/dev/hdd)).
