You can use apt for free.

I dig autoupdates :( is there a way to get it back. Only been using Linux for like 4 days. I dont understand. but if I got to, what file and what do I do with it.

Apt does autoupdates. Here are some good instructions:
Installing apt (Advanced Package Tool)

Could be because you're trying to re-register with the same details as before (email address) or you haven't re-registered. The free update service one only lets you update one system per-email address (even though you can register multiple systems). You can log into redhat and delete the system from your profile then re-register the current one using the same details or just register again but using a different email address. That's if that's what's causing the problem.
