Can Linux play Windows games, like, for example, World of Warcraft, or EverQuest?

Yes you can. If you install Wine, you can check out the database to see how well Windows games run - e.g. a search for World of Warcraft yields lots of results with this one being "platinum" which means it runs perfectly: https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManag...sion&iId=36961

If you use Steam in Windows, then it gets better because thanks to Proton (and Wine), you just have to install Steam (native Linux version) and it will run your Windows games too (without you have to purchase them again). The compatibility levels are very good. You can also search for test results in a similar way: https://www.protondb.com/app/201230
