can I update db on boot???
Is it possible to set up a bootloader giving me a choice to updatedb on boot?

I have fedora c1 at the mo with grub bootldr

if you wish to do updatedb when your system starts, why not try to add it to your rc.local file (for example); that runs it every time your system boots. so edit your /etc/rc.local file and add there a new line that simply reads "updatedb" without quotes..that works, assuming that updatedb command is in PATH.
