Question Can I run Webroot with Uubuntu

Im building a computer and my friend has talked me into having a go at Linux. I am looking into using Webroot for my antivirus. And i wanted to know, is this compatible with Linux?

Hi,

why do you want "antivirus"? Are there windows machines on your network you are trying to protect?

If you are going to use a Linux distribution alone without any other platform then you will be fine without Webroot.
Now if you are going to be sharing files with machines running Windows then the responsable thing to do will be make sure the files you are probiding are clean. But a Windows Virus will do nothing to your Linux computer.

Good luck to you.

So Since I am running Ubuntu I will not need an anti virus software?
Also if i do decide to get an antivirus do you have any recommendations? Preferably around $20 or less.

You should not need antivirus for Ubuntu since programs or malware made for Windows wont run in Ubuntu you couldnt even install an antivirus or any file with the .exe extention.

If you want to install an antivirus for ubuntu look in the Ubuntu Software Center (Ubuntu app store) and look for clamav
actually most of the stuff you need to install in Ubuntu it should be from its Software center if you find any difficulties installing applications from there start another thread with specific questions.

Good luck to you.

Correct, if you run a decent os (Ubuntu falls into this category).

Ikk. If anyone tries to sell you such software, just run away. If for some reason you really want to install something, install clamav from your package manager.
