Can I restore system using a ext 4 timeshift backup to a new btrfs formatted partition table ?

Can I restore system using a ext 4 timeshift backup to a new btrfs formatted partition table ?
I have recently reformatted my SSD drive with a new BTRFS file system.
I had previously saved backups of the Mint 20.1 system to an external seagate 2TB usb drive using rsync , at that time the ssd drive was ext4.
I have my Home folder manually copied to the 2TB usb drive, I assume there is no problem just copying this to the ssd primary drive.
I have a Mint 20.1 distro on a USB pendrive if needed.
I don't think I would have switched from windows without all the help from fellow linux users,
thanks in advance !

You appear to have a functional file system on the backup drive, and as long as you have space on the new btrfs file system then doing the restore is as simple as doing the backup. Rsync works both ways.

I have already waited for years since btrfs was first introduced. I will wait a lot longer for it to be stable. LVM and ext4 work fine for me.

With that said, it appears that fedora has decided to use it as the default file system for new installs to push development forward and the many bugs reported are a result of increased usage.

And I am the opposite. I have been using it for over 10 years - RAID for almost the entire time. I find the rollback of LVM snaps a pain, so I see no reason to change.

As for the OPs origin query, it's likely to be as educational as the previous thread.

I'd think that if you didn't have btrfs first then timeshift used rsync.

A clean install of your distro and then apply the changes ought to work but I've never tried it.
