Can i join IT or IS school?
 

So i am 15 and i am in last year(9) in elementary school and i will have to choose secondary school and can i join for IT or IS? Yeah i cnow i am young and i can change mind easy, but this is what i want and this is what i do, every day i am learning something new about pc software and hardware and i want make carrier for it. My experience with pc is not big, but for my 15 years old life is big. I have installed windows 7 on 2 pc's and i had several problems with pc software and i had solved them and this summer i rebuilded my pc with new cpu and psu and nvidia video card. I am making my own web page with HTML and little bit JAVASCRIPT and i need to completely complete it and buy domain. I have two choices in my chosed secondary school to be programming technical or computer techincal(build, solve problems, test software). Do i have enough experience to make carrier in IT or IS? And why LQ.. I want to be that smart that i can recode linux kernels for my self and make them better or just make my Linux to myself. I just ask for support and advice and don't be mean.. I just want good life. For now i use Windows 7 and Lubuntu 14.04.3

My two cents are neither IT nor IS. I'm a programmer and I make custom kernels for custom systems, write drivers, write programs.

IT to me is "Information Technology" and also in my view, a field where you set up systems, servers, networks, and you support users who use them. Not that an IT person may not compile a kernel, I'm sure they do in order to set up a system or server the way they prefer. If that interests you, then go for IT.

IS to me is "Information Services" and that in my view is dealing with big data, how to transit it, how to store it, how to manage it. I'm less sure someone in this field would be building custom kernels, but they may and also nothing stops you from having hobbies. If that interest you, then go for IS.

If programming interests you, then go for either Computer Science or Software Engineering.

You'll notice that I say "If (something) interests you." A MAJOR point I'd like to make is that I think it would be a HORRIBLE way to make a choice by basing it on which career will grant you a greater success, and especially if the fields are similar and are actual job titles in the world. For instance say you were differentiating between being a surgeon and a psychiatrist. Yes, they are both doctors, however they are vastly different fields. And if you really prefer using your hands to help people versus wish to study the human mind, then there's a huge difference and hence why choose the one you don't like as much merely because you feel it would make you a few more dollars. You are after all looking at some minor differences within a branch of technology and you are demonstrating a wish to excel at your field in the future.

Then you should choose the programming option.

Tnx for help and advices.. That realy helped me a lot and i gained more experience and know better what is what. I will go for programming, becouse they are realy rare. (1 of 50 or 100) students is programmer and half of Latvia programmers are lazy and don't want to do enything or just drink alcohol and don't want to do anything. Does game making and graphical internet advertisers is in programming? Yeah gaming on my old radeon is pain, but i will buy pc about 800euros to 1500euros in worked summer job. I will work with my mom and stepfather in in bakery "Lāči" it is big bakery for Latvia size. And is programming realy difficult to learn, becouse i have 6 or 7 in math and 7/8 english. In elementary school i didn't get any experience with class"informātika" it is about pc and we needed to just make word documents and nothing.. But in real jurnal i readed he needed to teach us about something else. Who languages is inside of linux kernel? And what is best programming language to start?

Not if you WANT to learn. Also, there is this myth that you have to be good at math to be a good programmer which is simply not true. What is good, however, is if you are able to understand LOGIC.

Well.. Logic.. Ok sometimes my logical side is ok, sometimes i just can't think logical. And i can learn fast how things work for exemple i know how kernel in Linux works,but not fully i just know basics of kernel. I know kernel is made of C. Well do i need learn C for start?

If your aim is to learn how to hack the kernel, then yes. Otherwise, no. Just start programming in whatever language you prefer.

I would learn C. Other languages are very similar, some are derivatives of C. Knowing C will be extremely helpful for programming in general.
