Can I install RedHat on an existing partition leaving data intact?
I am just getting started with Linux after a long, long break (I used Redhat 4.0 before). I have a copy of RedHat 9.0 Shrike and I am trying to install it on an older P500 with two hard drives with Windows ME already installed. These hard drives are single partitioned each with FAT32.
The question is, can I install RH 9.0 (or Fedora) WITHOUT losing any data already on my hard drives (I have 3 and 19 GB free respectively)? I could probably borrow Partition Magic from work but before I got into that, I was hoping that:
a) RH could be coaxed into booting/running from vfat and/or
b) The install process came with a re-partitioner that would leave my data in-tact.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Paul
