I have a eMachine T6414 that I am not able to recovery my Windows xp operating system Can I install Linux on a desktop that wont boot up?

Thanks for any help, either loading windows xp or load linux.

You can try to boot up Knoppix or any other LiveCD version of Linux and recover/copy your personal files/data from the Windows partition before attempting any installation on the hard disk. Have you a clue about the problem?

I guess it depends on why you can't recover Windows.......

If it boots from a Linux live CD---and the hard drive has not physically failed---then I'm sure you can install Linux.

Do you have a Windows installation CD?
