apt-get
Mint is Debian based, so apt-get is your package manager...
Code:
# sudo apt-get update |
Insert into a terminal alsamixer as root and check that its un-muted M to mute or un-mute arrow keys to move along, also try F4 and F6 and see if that's got anything interesting to tweak.
Ooops, its been a while since I looked at Mint but I,m pretty sure it uses alsa... I hope it does and I am not wrong... LOL |
Can I install and use VLC video player on MINT 10
Hi guys . thank you both for your helpful advice and coding tips I have this program "VLC" on a "8daysaweek" opensource CD, its for windows installation. I am new to Linux and I think I will have a look at Ubuntu for non-geeks 4:th edition and Linux in a Nutshell 6:th edition, and come back to you on this VLC installation.
The reason I wanted VLC was that when I played a movie with MINT 10 movie player the movie played erratic and in a very slow fashion. I think this is a separate post though. Cheers and many thanks ticketyboo |
That's what I do,I RTFM all the time and Google, plus I learn loads from others posts... you just need to be patient and persistent and eventually the clouds will clear away and you will get to smile every time you get it to work... good luck

Cheers rich c , I was wondering what it meant , because when I Googled RTFM this Wikipedia insertion was the first on the list. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RTFM
I have already requested the fine manuals from the local library . Cheers |
