Can I Change The Gnome Pop-Up Window Settings In Fedora Core 2?
You know when you double click on a folder, a new window pops up with its contents, then if you double click another folder a new window pops up, and pretty soon you have 15 windows on your screen. Is there a way I can change that?

If you are using Konqueror, click on 'Settings' -> 'Configure Konqueror' .
No you want the top option "Behavior". Under Misc Options, unselect 'Open folders in separate windows' |
They already said they were using Nautilus.
Firstly, I'd recommend trying to get used to this. It's called "spatial navigation" and can prove convenient if you don't have a very deep directory heirarchy. You can also open a window while closing the first by [double] middle clicking. If you still want to switch it off, use gconf-editor (Configuration Editor) and change the setting in /apps/nautilus so "browse mode" is always used. You can access a browse mode window from the Applications menu -> Browse Filesystem. Hope that helps. |
I'm sorry, they said that they are using Gnome. I don't use gnome and I didn't realize the it uses a different default file-browser. Now I know.
