Can I access the INTERNET from the command line????

I have Linux running ....... sort of

However, I'm having all kinds of problems with Garnome.

Thought I could circumvent the installation time by downloading required files onto a CD-ROM and installing from there What a dream

No matter what files I downloaded, garnome always found an excuse to try and connect to an ftp site for more files. So....I figured I might as well let it do "it's thing"

But.....I need for my machine to be able to connect to the INTERNET from the command line.

What program do I need to do this

You don't need anything special to connect from the command line, it's not like DOS where you may or may not have all your drivers loaded, the difference in linux between the command line and a GUI is the way it looks, that's it.
