Probably.

If you'd give more information about your laptop, we could give you a better answer. Model at the LEAST, preferably also what model wireless card it has since that's usually the biggest hurdle on laptops.

Why don't you try? There are many people with Acer laptops running Linux http://www.linux-on-laptops.com/acer.html. If your laptop has an operating system, you can also use virtualization software to install Linux without any risk.

Try a live distro to see if the wifi works easily, something like partedmagic might be a good indicator of easy wifi connection.

Including the brand and model (and model number) of your Acer would help us give you a better, more informed answer.
