can anyone help, /dev/cdrom:input/output error mount
 
Hello, i am brand new to linux, my question is that i am tryin to mount a cdrom and i keep getting could not mount device.the reported error was:

/dev/cdrom: input/output error
mount: i could not determine the filesystem type, and none was specified

can anyone help a new comer

well first if anything else i can definetly tell you that this is not a success story, so in the future pick the fourm your posting in more carefully ...
secondly, try specifying a file system then :confused: that is what it says
for a lack of better terms .....
what kind of cd is it ?
self burned ? if so whats on it ?
just data, a movie, music, etc ...

Moved: More suitable in Newbie. Also in the future, it really helps us out when replying to threads and if they don't belong in a forum and you mention it, to also report it so us mods can move it, etc as we don't catch everything. Regards.

are you trying to mount an audio cd?
you don't have to mount an audio cd for playing music.
