I want to use my Lcd TV as the main monitor for my Acer Aspire 3004 Wlmi in Mandriva Spring 2008. It works fine with Win xp. The TV is a Samsung LR37 and my graphics card is an SIS M760GX, any help much appreciated, thanks.

More information would be helpful. What kind of interface are you using between the TV and the card? What's the resolution you're trying to drive onto the TV? Is it widescreen or regular? What resolutions can the TV handle (should be in your TV manual)?

A TV that can act as a monitor, should work with no problems (I'm doing it at home with OpenSuSE), but resolutions can be picky. Try booting into XP, then show your display properties. It may have resolution, color depth, and refresh rate in it. Adjust your X display properties accordingly.

Ths laptop is connected to the widescreen via an ordinary 15 pin connection and I can get pretty much any resolution I like in xp, but choose the 1280x768 at 60Hz. I think this is a case of me being a newb to Linux and not knowing how to correctly set up this facility in Mandriva, because today I managed it within minutes in LinuxMint 4 KDE. It seemed a lot easier to follow the process of screen cloning and resolutions etc. Thanks for your help, although not having decided which version of Linux I will eventually stick with, I would still like to be able to use the screen in Mandriva if anyone could point me in the right direction.
