Background info:

I hate windows, and have just discovered Fedora! So far I am very impressed with the potential of fedora and it's components.

Problem:

Partitioning

I have installed the boot, swap and root partitions for linux, and have left an unused space on my hardrive to install windows xp. ( I need windows for 2 application only). So when I go to install windows, it hangs up. I need desperate help on partitioning, I also have other partitions at the end of the hard disk which is storing music and videos. I can access them using an NTFS patch.

As much as I hate windows, can someone please help me with the partitioning?

You must install windows first. When you install windows it thinks that it is the only operating system and ignores any other OSes.
So first you need to reformat your hard drive. Second you should install windows. Third install fedora.

I originally had Windows installed, then attempted to install Fedora. I manually edited the partitions because I didn't want fedora to delete windows. I created a root and a swap partition after windows, but no boot. I went back into windows to try and move my windows partition foward a 100mb so I then could install a boot partition at the front. But I had no Luck. So what is the process of installing Linux after windows that uses the grub boot loader?

I'm still confused.

I am happy to start again, but how do I now re organise my partitions so that I can install windows first then Fedora second.

If the Windows programs aren't anything special, try having a look at Qemu and install a copy of Windows in a virtual environment, that option really should work or you could try having a play with WINE but it may not work with your apps

Are Qemu and WINE windows emulators? If so I'm out of luck because I need to Run Autocad and a Digital TV application.
