Can't get X to start in slack 9.1

I did a dual install of winxp and slack9.1 on my HP pavillion ze4400 laptop and the install went fine but I cannot start x or any other program with a graphical interface. I have run xf86config with all the right options but to no avail. The best I have gotten it to is (EE) Screens found, but none have a usable configuration. I’m not sure if im just configuring it wrong although I chose all the right hardware or if something just needs to be changed first. Any help at all would be great thanks.

Try xf86setup instead, so it'll try to detect the right driver.

What video card do you have?

Try xf86config and/or xf86cfg.

Be sure to:

man xf86config

and

man xf86cfg

to read up on them first.
