I have supposedly installed my HP LaserJet 4100 Printer successfully - just don't ask me where it is! Yet, when I try to print
anything on any page (no matter what kind), I can't. There is no print icon or Menu selection for File/Print to open up a Print Dialog Box. How can this be? Barry's distro is supposed to be "drop-dead easy," but it is turning out to be "drop-dead impossible" for this newbie who hasn't been able to get off the ground yet. Without being able to print out blog/forum replies, wiki entries, or Google pages on the Linux-related topics I need to know about, I am dead in the water. The learning curve for me is just much to steep if I cannot even successfully not just install but do whatever else is needed to actually use basic, necessary peripheral devices like printers.
Don't know if anybody can help me, but right now am totally lost in far too many pages of information. Need clear, simple guidelines to get simple or beginning things done. Also, still
can't can't register at Barry's discussion forum. All I got for trying to was error message saying the email I entered had already been taken or was associated with a user! No s****, that user is me and I only have one gmail account that has never caused me any trouble before. It's worked for registering with linux.org, and also
www.puppylinux.org. So what gives??
Am getting fed up with all Linux distros at this rate, but absolutely despise Windows (especially Vista - what a piece of crap) too much to go back to it.
Any help in simple terms that doesn't leave anything important out would be greatly appreciated. Should I just give up with Puppy and migrate to Ubuntu or openSuSE instead?
