ok i have a big problem

i had windows xp installed on my laptop and i used partition magic to create a second partition: fat32

i booted using backtrack live-cd. Then i right clicked on the desktop and chose sytem > install backtrack

then i choose install on hard drive (not the 800 Mb but the 2550 Mb option)

Now my problem is that i don't get to select from wich OS i boot. It automatically boots from slax.

Also the startup hangs up on this line: "input: AT Translated Set 2 keyboard on isa0060/serio0" So i cannot boot into nothing anymore !!!!

what is happenning ??? what should i do ??

any suggestion would be greatly appreciated

Hi,

I'm not sure what's happening with the Linux install but you can reinstall the windows mbr by using a bootdisk or a windows 98 cd and booting into the command line.

You can then type fdisk /mbr

This should rewrite your mbr an allow to to boot into Windows

ok i managed to ket my keyboard working when booting with live-cd.

what if i boot with live-cd and erase the whole content of the partition where linux is installed ???

i got scared for a sec there.

Now if i want 2 OS installed, how do i have to format the partition containing linux ??

is it fat32, linux ext or linux swap ??

I take it you are using Slackware, it should have a guided partitioner that will do it for you. If not, try Debian Etch, works nicely.

nope there is no guided partitioner. all i have is 1 option: choose between 800 Mb installation or 2550 Mb installation
