Unhappy Can't access windows directories through Nautilus

Ok, I'm completely new to Linux.
I've recently bought a new hard drive, installed Mandrake 9.1 on it, and set it as the master drive for my computer, which also has another hard drive (hdb1) formatted fully in FAT32 with Windows ME. I mounted the windows drive using this command:
# mount -t vfat /dev/hdb1 /mnt/hdb1/windows

I see the drive and its files using Nautilus, but the directories appear simply as files and disappear when I click on them! I
What's going on? How can I access my data?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

It's probably a permissions problem. Try this:

# mount -o umask=000 -t vfat /dev/hdb1 /mnt/hdb1

The 'umask=000' allows read/write access for any user

Can you advise how should this entry look like if it is in /etc/fstab? i.e. read/write access for any user.
