Probably the installer was unable to determine the correct settings for your monitor..maybe horizontal/vertical Hz values or something. You should either boot into a single-user mode (runlevel 1) and fix the problem using console (by editing /etc/X11/XF86Config or /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 or /etc/X11/xorg.conf depending on what that version of SuSE has..), or if you're willing to just reinstall, define the correct monitor (and video card, if you can) settings during the installation - manually.
Another way is to use a more recent version of SuSE, that hopefully knows how to autoconfigure your devices.
