can't stream media from network
ok, I have a bit of a lan at my house so alot of movies and mp3's are scattered around my mates hard drives, I can browse them fine with Suse 9.0's built in "local network" but when I try to play a movie over the network it first copies it onto my harddrive before it plays it. Mp3's don't play at all, anyone know if there are some libraries i'm missing that allow you to play media from across the network?
distro: suse 9.0 movie player: xine v0.99.1, xinetd 2.3.12-31, libxine1 1_cvs-040527, xmms: 1.2.8-61 samba: kdebase3-samba 3.1.4-52, libsmbclient3 2.99_3.0rc3-44 Cheers |
Can you play mp3s from your hard disk on your machine?

yep everything works fine if its actually on the harddrive. My friends linux box has a nfs running, i managed to mount this somehow and i can play media and open files without it needing to copy it to my computer first. However I still can't play movies/mp3's or open files from other windows shares without it copying to my harddrive first.
